Esther Holmes Irey Lutzai died peacefully surrounded by her family on July 27, 2003 in Salt Lake City of causes incident to age.

Esther was born to Clarissa Pearce and William Howard Holmes on May 25, 1914 in Avon, Utah. She attended South Cache High School in Hyrum, Utah. In 1933 she was married to Fred William Irey who passed away in 1967.

Esther worked in Civil Service as a purchasing agent in Clearfield, Utah and San Diego, California for 30 years. She loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Her greatest talent was her needlework. She brought joy to the lives of many with her gifts of afghans, quilts and other beautiful handiwork. She had a love for gardening and flowers and always had a yard and home full of blossoms.

Survived by her sons Richard (Diane) Irey, West Jordan, Utah and James (Linda) Irey, Homestead, Florida, brother, Joe Holmes, sisters, Lorna (Joe)Turner and Bernice Bell, grandchildren, Becky, Tami, Bryan, Holly, Kim, Tana, Doug, Danny, Sharon and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by sisters Clara, Elaine, and Lucille, brothers, Howard, and Elden.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 1, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Avon Cemetery, Avon Utah. Family and friends may visit at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, Utah from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.
