Logan, Utah - Floyd L. Newbold, 87, of Logan, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at home. He was born on August 3, 1916 in Downey, Idaho the son of Andrew and Carrie Rasmussen Newbold.

He Married Thella Gilbert in the Logan LDS Temple on April 21, 1938. He was engaged in farming all of his life, owning and operating a fruit farm in Providence. He also worked at the Lewiston Sugar Factory and at Utah State University.

He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as assistant ward clerk, financial clerk and High Priest Group Leader. He and his wife were temple officiators in the Logan LDS Temple. He served as president of the Cache County Fruit Growers Association. He lived in Cambridge, Idaho (near Downey, Idaho) and in Providence, Utah.

His hobbies included playing the harmonica, fishing and latch hook rugs. He won many ribbons at the county and state fairs.

He is survived by his wife, Thella G. Newbold of Logan; daughter Ona (Gordon) Herring of River Heights, Utah; and sons, Vern (Joy) Newbold of West Jordan, Utah and David (Lorene) Newbold of Kaysville, Utah. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, a brother, Otis (Lynne) Newbold of Logan, Utah and a sister, Eunice Jones of Ogden, Utah.

He was preceded in death by three infant children, his father, Andrew Newbold; his mother, Carrie Newbold; a brother, Murland Newbold; and a sister, Phyllis McBride.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2003 at 12 Noon at the Allen-Hall Mortuary. A viewing will be held from 10:30 - 11:45 AM prior to services. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery.
