Flora Sorensen Zollinger
COLLEGE WARD, UTAH: Flora Sorensen Zollinger, 81,
passed away peacefully at home of natural causes
incident to age on January 25, 2004, surrounded by her
family.
She was born October 18, 1922, in College Ward, a
daughter of Leonard Edwin Sorensen and Chloe Hansen
Sorensen. She married Leon James Zollinger November
27, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple. Leon passed away
November 1, 1971, following a debilitating illness
leaving a void in Flora’s life. She lovingly cared
for him at home throughout his illness.
She lived most of her life in College Ward, attending
local schools and graduating from South Cache High
School. She enjoyed going to her class reunions and
renewing old friendships. She and Leon were dairy and
poultry farmers. She worked with him on the farm
raising chickens and selling eggs. She served as a
Community Director of the Cache County Utah Dairy
Wives.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints, having served in various callings
during her lifetime. Besides caring for her husband,
she cared for her elderly mother and was always
helping a family member. She was a true example of
service, patience, loyalty and perseverance. She
enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and gardening.
She was blessed to have her children live close by and
loved being with them and their families.
She is survived by five children: sons, James
(Janice); Terry (Mary), both of College Ward;
daughters, Tamara Poppleton (Roy), of Wellsville;
Lorraine Lindley (Terry), of Mt. Sterling; and Susan
Tarbet (Don) of College Ward; 22 grandchildren, 17
great-grandchildren, and a sister, Emma Lou Vincent.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse,
brother, a grandson, and a son-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm Thursday, January
29, 2004, in the College/Young LDS Chapel. Friends
and relatives are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8
p.m. on Wednesday at Allen- Hall Mortuary and from
10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be

Family members would like to thank Rocky Mountain
Hospice, especially Margaret Sorensen, for the special
care given to our mother.
