SMITHFIELD, UTAH: Gordon Andrew LaMont, 68, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 13, 2004 in Deer Valley, Utah.

Gordon was born on May 21, 1936 in Wellsville, Utah to Andrew DeVere and Nora Hutchison LaMont. He grew up in Cache Valley and had a great love of the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were always favorite pass times. Gordon met the love of his life, Delores Sarah Riggs in 1952 and they were married October 24, 1953 in Benson, Utah.

Gordon believed that hard work was its own reward and always went the extra mile for his customers, friends and especially his family. He was instrumental in starting several Cache Valley businesses including, The House of Carpets, The Furniture Loft and for the last 23 years Gordon’s RV’s. He was a member o f the Logan Golf and Country Club serving on the Board of Directors and was a member of the Logan Elks Lodge. Gordon valued his many friends and always said he never had a bad day on the golf course.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Delores, his daughters, Sarah Kim and Brad Lenhart, Taya and Calvin Winslow and Candace Allred, his grandchildren, Brandee and Mitchell Halverson, Tamara LaMont, Toni Tiffany Strickland, Andrew Jeffrey Allred and Derek David Allred, great grandchildren, Taylee Halverson and Gage Joseph Halverson, brother, Paul and Mary LaMont, sisters, DeNora and Job Miller; Dorothy and Larry Harris, Villa and Larry Craig and Vickey and Lowell Leiser, brother-in-laws, Louis and JoAnn Riggs; Gerald Riggs and sister-in-law, Trilva Poppell. Gordon was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Andrew LaMont and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 18, 2004 at 12:00 pm in the Allen-Hall Mortuary chapel. Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday evening from 6-8 pm and on Friday from 10:30 - 11:45 am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
