Gordon LeGrand Parker
Millville, Utah - Gordon LeGrand Parker, 63, passed
away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 28,
2003 in Logan, Utah. His positive attitude carried
him through his illness of Parkinson’s Disease for
over 37 years. He was a great example to all that knew
him. Gordon was born January 18, 1940 to Joseph &
Fontella Parker in Lanark, Idaho. He was the youngest
of nine children.
Gordon graduated in 1958 from Fielding High School in
Paris, Idaho. He loved sports and lettered in
football, track & field, basketball, and wrestling.
Gordon married Jean Anderson on October 23, 1959 in
the Logan Temple. They are the parents of five
children and 20 grandchildren. Gordon enjoyed the
outdoors, fishing & hunting, his horses & buggy, his
family and friends. He also enjoyed driving a school
bus for 22 years-known to most of the students as
"Uncle Gordy." He also worked at different times in
several different occupations. These included working
at Thiokol, construction, electrical work, farmed and
milked cows, was part owner of a restaurant in Hyrum,
and later owned a mink ranch.
Gordon was a high priest in the Millville 3rd Ward. He
served in many callings including, Assistant High
Priest Group leader, Counselor in Elders Quorum,
President of the MIA, and Superintendent of the Sunday
School for many years.
He is survived by his wife Jean, their children,
Sherry (Dale) Willden, Millville; Craig (Julie)
Parker, Millville; Janice (Patrick) Holman, Pleasant
Grove, UT; Michelle (Michael) Bair, Millville; Tiffiny
(Owen "Skeeter") Jensen, Millville. 19 grandchildren;
his brother, Derell Parker, Young Ward, UT; sisters,
Lona Covert, Millville; Glenna (Dave) Boehme, Young
Ward; Opal (Glen) Nelson, Mantua, UT; Loye (Neil)
Christensen; Georgetown, ID.; sisters-in-law, Wynetta
Parker, Soda Springs, ID; Mary Shirley Parker,
Millville; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one
granddaughter, Cassie Dawn Holman; one sister, Zola
Christensen; two brothers, Alvin Parker and LaVell
Parker, two brothers-in-law, Freeman Covert and Glen
Christensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31,2003,
at noon in the Millville Third Ward Chapel, 110 South Main,
Millville, Utah. The viewing will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan, and
again on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30
a.m. at the church.
