Logan, Utah: Harry A. Small, M.D. passed away on October 13, 2003 from Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his wife Wanda (Dunn) Small, his two sons, Harry and Lin; four daughters, Diane, Barbara, Marla and Mary, as well as two brothers, Tom and Allen Small.

The serious message that his family would like to get out there is that as always, you survive.... not ever as planned, but stronger and more prepared for the next test. We are probably the world’s “for sure Hyrum’s” most dysfunctional “married with children” type family you would ever care to know. Finding normalcy when dealing with this disease caused “dis-ease,” disease, estrangement, chemical abuse, changes in faith some more diverse than others. But the ‘1' thing we each had in common was that we somehow loved this man. Some would call him a “fine man’” his patients “a Saint” and us, his family, even I dare not say. We are the “yours*mine & ours” story at its finest. One of those ya find yourself confused by every time, no matter how many times ya hear it.

Dr. Harry A. Small, M.D. (The A. stands for Alphonsus) “hehe”. Physician, surgeon, soldier, sailor, aviator, cowboy, shrink. That was our Dad, expert boxer, grandson of German immigrant Oscar Schmal, blacksmith, titled Milwaukee’s strongest man. Son of Harry C. Small, carpenter, inventor and developer.

Truly a man for all seasons, whose sons and daughters became psychologists, teachers, captains, entrepreneurs, extraordinary mothers and fathers all.

A patriarch whose influence and love will forever effect all of us.

We miss him dearly.

Burial was on Thursday, October 16, 2003 in the Hyrum Cemetery. Arrangements by the Allen-Hall Mortuary, Logan, Utah.
