Jay Var Wardle, Sr.
Mendon, Utah- Jay V. Wardle Sr, 72, died
Wednesday, May 7, 2003 in Logan, Utah at Sunshine
Terrace Nursing Home.
He was born March 23, 1931, in Roosevelt, Utah,
a son of Charles and Mary Wardle. He Married Joyce
Duffin Wardle on July 26, 1950, in Salt Lake City.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple
May 29, 1969.
He graduated from West high School in Salt Lake
City. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter day Saints and he served in various church
callings.
His early work years were filled with working
with his brothers, Union Pacific Railroad, and serving
in the US Air Force. He then had the very unique
experience of having two very fulfilling careers in
his life. He moved his young family to San Bernardino,
Calif. and soon made the decision to become a police
officer for the San Bernardino Police Dept. He held
many positions from patrolman, Identification Bureau,
and traffic officer. He then retired on a medical
disability and decided it was time to obtain higher
education.
Dad and Mom decided to return to their
roots in Utah, .where he enrolled at Utah State in
Logan, Utah and obtained a teaching degree. He went on
to teach school and coach various athletic teams in
Arizona. He returned again to Logan to obtain a
Masters Degree in School Administration and went to
work for the Cache County School District.
He loved teaching and working with young people. He
held various administrative and teaching positions
before his early retirement to take care of mom before
her passing.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and
a man of many talents.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in
January of 2000, who he lovingly took care of her
until her death, his parents, two sisters, and six
brothers. He is survived by three sons and a
daughter, Jay V. (Janet) Wardle, Hyrum Utah, Jan M.
Wardle, Sacramento, Calif., Joel D. (Debbie) Wardle,
Mesa, Ariz., Joan M. (Ken) Fry, Fernley Nev.; seven
grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great
grandchildren.
Graveside services will be on Saturday, May 10,
2003, at 12 Noon at the Logan City Cemetery. There
will be a viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM
at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan,
Utah.
