Lily Blauer Heninger
Lily Blauer Heninger, 100, passed away Sept. 20,
2003, in Logan. She was born Dec. 15, 1902, in Lund,
Idaho, the daughter of Rosetta Gerber and Christian
Fredric Blauer. She had a love of learning, and after
graduating from Albion Normal School she attended
Brigham Young College in Logan. She taught school in
Idaho for several years, and gave the gift of the love
of learning to many children.
She was married to Preston A. Heninger on Nov. 11,
1931, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they raised
three sons and one daughter. He died Aug. 2, 1981.
Lily was active in the LDS church all her life. She
served as Relief Society President of the Logan 13th
Ward, and held many teaching positions. She was very
interested in genealogy and could recite names, dates,
and information about the family without consulting
the many records she kept.
She was known for her beautiful smile and for the
love she had for everyone around her. She loved making
people happy. She was a loving and devoted mother,
grandmother, sister, aunt, and neighbor.
A 100th birthday celebration was held in her honor in
December of 2002. She was thrilled with the outpouring
of love that was shown to her on that occasion by her
many friends, neighbors, and relatives.
She is survived by three sons: Sheldon (Lynette)
Heninger of Logan; Clayne (Irene) of Albuquerque,
N.M.; and Lynn (Colleen) Heninger of Vienna, VA. A
daughter, Janeene (Clair) Jones, of Logan passed away
on June 2, 2001. She is also survived by 20
grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren (with 1 on the
way), and one great-great-grandchild.
Her granddaughter Andrea has lived with her for the
past few years, making it possible for her to stay in
her own home until a month before her death.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September
26th, at 12:00 noon at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East
Center Street, Logan. Family and friends may call
from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Rocky
Mountain Hospice and the Logan Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center for the tender and loving care
they gave her in her final days.
