Logan – Laura Margaret Jensen Hirst, 87, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 6, 1916 in Downey, Idaho, the daughter and second child of George and Inga Jacobsen Jensen.

As a young woman she ventured to California and was hired by MGM Studios to ink cells for animated cartoons. This was one of her fondest memories. She returned to Logan upon her brother’s request so she could help care for her parents while he served in World War II. Laura married Ivan Tarry Hirst, May 4, 1945, in Logan. While raising three children she continued with the devoted care of her parents.

Some of her favorite activities were hiking, swimming, gardening, reading, relaxing in the sun, and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity and honesty. Laura has been a participant in the Cache Valley Memory Study.

She was preceded in death by son, Blaine and husband Ike. Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs. Dewey (Karen) Dipoma, Pleasant View; Mrs. Neal (Marjean) Van Orden, Lewiston; seven grand children and seven great grand children.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all the love and tremendous care given her over the last ten years. These have truly been some of her happiest years.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Logan City Cemetery. Arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary, Logan.
