Lester Joseph Newbrand
LOGAN, UTAH: Lester Joseph Newbrand, 88, of Logan,
beloved husband, father, returned to his Heavenly
Father on Friday, December 5, 2003 to be reunited with
his late wife, Tense. He died at the Logan Valley
Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 24, 1915 to John Joseph and Ida
Ruegsegger Newbrand in Daniels, Idaho. He was the
second of seven children. Lester attended school in
Daniels and after one hear of high school he went to
work on the family farm. They sold the farm in Idaho
and moved to Paradise, Utah, after the farm was sold
he went to live in Hyrum for a while and then moved to
Logan. He worked as a mason for 35 years. His touch
is all over Logan. He worked for Olsen and Davis
Construction. He worked on Pepperidge Farm in
Richmond, Wurlitzer, USU Fine Arts Building, an LDS
church, The Logan Temple, a school in Wyoming, a
service station in Ogden, the Cache Valley Mall and
the Romney Stadium at USU. He was a very hard worker
and was very proud of his work.
He married Susan Larsen on July 2, 1987 in Elko,
Nevada.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan, Logan; a
daughter, Francis and Warren Smith, Smithfield; two
step-children, Michael and Kathi Mutzenberger, Sioux
Falls, So. Dakota; Debi and Mick Myskewitz, Belt,
Montana; eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Melanie and
Phil; Robert and Amy; Kevin, Roni, Lessha, Ariel,
Vannesha; six great grandchildren and one great-great
grandchild; a brother, Delwyn and two sisters, Delores
and Harold Speirs; Emma Lyle Boehme. He was preceded
in death by his parents, his wife, Hortense, two sons,
Jerry and Paul Newbrand, two great grandchildren,
three sisters, Ruby Obray, Reah, Alice Olsen.
Our family wishes to express our gratitude to Dr.
Jeffery Strong and the Logan Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9,
2003 at 12:00 pm in the Allen-Hall Mortuary. Friends
may call at the mortuary Monday evening from 6:00 -
8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:45 am.
Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery. Online
