Meneita Perkes Daines
Hyde Park - Meneita Perkes Daines, 92, passed away
peaecfully of causes incident to age on Monday, August
18,2003. She was bom October 10, 1910 (10-10-10) in
Hyde Park to
Reuben Albert Perkes and Mary Meretta Balls. Four
brothers and one sister greeted her into the family
and one brother followed seven years later.
She was valedictorian of her grade school class and
graduated from North Cache High School and Seminary.
Upon completion of high school she worked for 3 years
before she married Earl M. Daines on July 12, 1933 in
the Logan LDS Temple.
She spent her entire married life as a fulltime
homemaker and raised three girls and three boys in the
same home she and Earl moved into at the time of their
marriage. She was well regarded as a fabulous cook and
seamstress. She was an active member of the Daughters
of the Utah Pioneers and found much happiness in
services to other people.
She and Earl served in the Arkansas Mission
(Tennessee, West Memphis Area), as well as two
Missions to the Logan Genealogical Library. She loved
the temple and spent many years as a temple worker
until health prevented her regular attendance.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Earl M. Daines
and oldest daughter Carla Wellander. Her brothers and
sister also preceded her in death. They were Vernon
(Gertrude) Perkes, Orson (Naomi) Perkes, Dewayne
(Grace) Perkes, Clinton (Florence) Perkes, Lila
(Melvin) Purser and Lyman (Fern) Perkes. Fern remains
the lone surviving sister-in-law.
She is survived by a son-in-law Robert Wellander,
Marietta, California, Mary Lou (Don) Campbell, Hyde
Park, Virginia (George) Nelson, Logan, Mark (Judy)
Daines, Steven (Launa) Daines and Brian (Tina) Daines.
All three boys reside in Hyde Park. She is blessed
with thirty six grandchildren, eighty one great
grandchildren, and fifteen great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday. August 22 at
12:00 noon in the Hyde Park Center Street Church. 63
East Center with Bishop Craig Smith conducting. A viewing
will be Thursday, August 21 at the Allen- Cranney
Mortuary. 420 East 1800 North, North Logan from
6:00-8:00 P.M. and at the church on Friday 10:30-11:30
a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be
in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
She wanted all to know that prayer is the key to the
day and the lock of the night.
