Mary Demonja
North Logan: Mary Demonja, 68, died September 5, 2003,
at the University of Utah Medical
Hospital from head injuries due to a fall. Mary was
born December 5, 1934, in Newstead, Akron,
New York. She was the tenth child of Marko and
Draginja Todorovich Demonja.
Mary’s mother died when she was two years old and her
father died when she was 16.
She was raised by her older sisters in New York and
California. She received her education in New
York and California, graduated from Polytech High
School in Hollywood, CA in 1952, where
she was an excellent student. She worked for a radio
production company in Hollywood and then
later was the police chief secretary for the San
Fernando Valley Police Dept.
In 1967 she moved
to San Jose, California and worked for the Santa Clara
County as a juvenile court clerk. She was
known for her organizational skills and accuracy in
anything she did. She retired from the county
because of poor vision in 1989. In 1999 Mary moved to
Utah to be near her daughter and family;
for the past two years she has lived in North Logan in
her own home.
We will remember Mary for always thinking of others:
she sent cards for birthdays,
anniversaries, and special occasions to all her
friends and relatives. Being an avid shopper she
was always on the lookout for the prefect gift for
friends and family. She loved to read, shop,
play word games, and enjoyed collecting porcelain
dolls and other collectibles.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie (Reed) Elder
and six grandchildren; Benjee Reed
Elder, Emily (Darcey) Barrus, Melanie Elder, Kassey
(James) Nell, Lindsey Elder and Wesley
Demonja Elder; her brothers: Sam (Brigitte) DeMonja,
Lon (Charlotte) Demonja, sisters: Anna
Demonja, and Amy Lennon, sister-in-law, Marianne

Fracaro and Selma Demonga.
