Marianne Daines Jessop
Marianne Daines Jessop, 64, beloved wife, mother, sister, teacher and friend, passed away after a prolonged illness on Oct. 29, 2003.
Marianne was born Sept. 7, 1939, in Logan, to Homer G. Daines and Mary Johnson. She grew up in Smithfield where she loved to play softball, dance and spend time outdoors. She graduated from North Cache High School and attended Utah State University for two years prior to her marriage to Scott Gordon Jessop on June 25, 1959, in the Logan LDS Temple. Marianne then did secretarial work at Thiokol Corporation in Brigham City, the Marquardt Corporation and Weber State College in Ogden. She completed her bachelor's degree and teaching certification in elementary education at Weber State.
When the family moved to Orem in 1976, Marianne taught second and fourth grades and music for 25 years at Orem Elementary. Through her creativity and dedication as a teacher she touched the lives of her students in a way that will never be forgotten. She was active in the LDS Church and served in various capacities throughout her life. Her greatest joy was her family and she loved reading, cooking and spending time with her friends.
Marianne is survived by her husband, Gordon; three sons, Scott, Christopher (Tiffany) and Bradley (Wendy); four grandchildren, Miranda, Mckay, Joshua and Zachary; her three sisters, Helen Griffin, Peggy Daines and Donna Christiansen; and her brother, Tracy Daines.
Marianne served her family and students tirelessly. All who knew her are better for it, and even though her living light has passed from us for a time, we cherish her memory and her influence in our lives.
