Norma Irene O. Hansen
COLLEGE WARD, UTAH: Norma Irene O. Hansen, 84, beloved
wife, mother, sister, grandmother and
great-grandmother passed away on March 9, 2004 from
complications of surgery. Norma was born November 1,
1919 to Alma Dewey and Leah Nelson Olsen in Young
Ward, the oldest of six children. She attended school
in Cache Valley and graduated from South Cache in
1937.
She married Quentin William (Bill) Hansen in the Logan
LDS Temple on November 29, 1939 and they spent 64
years together in College Ward where they raised their
family.
Norma was a faithful member of the LDS church and held
positions in all auxiliaries including secretary to
three different Relief Society Presidents, secretary
to the Sunday School, coordinator of the Junior Sunday
School, the Stake Relief Society Board, MIA, Primary
Presidency, Den Mother and visiting teacher.
She always loved music and had a beautiful alto voice.
She was chosen to be a member of the Bel Canto Choir
for several seasons and sang with other choirs, trios
and quartets and her family will always remember her
singing with the radio or humming as she did household
tasks.
For five years Norma managed the Red Fox dress shop in
Logan and also worked at ZCMI in women's clothing and
as the wedding consultant.
Her family was her pride and joy and she loved to
travel, especially to events that included her
children and grandchildren. Norma was loved and will be
greatly missed by Bill, her husband of 64 years, her
children: Clair (Diane)Hansen, Modesto, California;
Beverlee (Nate) Robinson, Las Vegas, Nevada ; Arlene
(Gordon) Churchill, Smithfield; Hal (Teresa) Hansen,
College Ward; Jed (Kathy) Hansen, Las Vegas and
Logan; her brothers and sisters: Melba (Alden) Oakes,
St. George; Blaine (Marie) Olsen, Providence; Wendell
(Lorraine) Olsen, Providence; LaDean (Marlo) Knowles,
Providence; brother-in-law, Edwin Jardine, Clarkston;
12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marvel, a
granddaughter, Kimberly and a great-grandson, Zachery.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2004
at 1:00 pm in the College/Young Ward LDS church, 2394
West 2200 South. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall
Mortuary in Logan Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm
and at the church on Saturday from 11:30 - 12:30 pm.
Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Online
