LOGAN, UTAH: Ralph Frank Thornley, 81, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2003 at Sunhealth Hospice in Peoria, Arizona. He was born on May 25, 1922, in Richmond, Utah to Arnold Thornley and Lillie Olsen. He married Teressa Preece on September 6, 1941. To this union six children were born. They were later divorced.

On September13, 1963, he married Leila Wooton Broomhead, they were later sealed in August of 1975 in the Oakland, California LDS Temple. He helped to raise Leila’s daughter, Lenea. Leila passed away on April 27, 1995. On December 31, 1999, he married Rebecca St. James in Sun City, Arizona.

He was educated in Richmond, Utah, graduating from North Cache High School and attended B.Y.U. He was a VIP waiter in Seattle, Washington, Salt Lake City, Utah, and San Francisco, California. He worked for the Ellin-Olson Mortuary at Albany, California.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca St. James, and five children, Douglas (Patty) of Arizona; Diane (Vern) Openshaw of Salt Lake City, Utah; Gary (Bonnie) of Herriman, Utah; Cindy (Gary) Evans of Taylorsville, Utah; and Suzan (David ) Long. He has 29 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth of Basalt, Idaho; two special cousins, Aleen Smith of Lewiston, Utah, and Rita Mae Olsen of Roy, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Melvin C. Thornley; a son, Larry Thornley; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 12 Noon at the Allen-Hall Mortuary. A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 AM at the mortuary prior to services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery, 300 East Center, Smithfield, Utah.
