Herbert Roscoe Weston
LOGAN-Herbert Roscoe Weston, 82, passed away suddenly
of a cerebral
hemorrhage, November 19,2003.
Roscoe was born on February 19, 1921, to Herbert
Robinson Weston and Karma Dunford Weston in Logan,
Utah, the fourth of eight children. He married Myrtle
Aebischer on May 24, 1946. They were later divorced.
After graduating from Logan High School, he joined the
Army Air Corp and flew an A-20 fighter plane in the
South Pacific during World War II. He served with the
386th Squadron, 31ih Bomb Group.
Upon returning home from the war, Roscoe went to work
for his father at Central Milling Company in Logan,
Utah. He loved cars and soon fulfilled a dream by
moving his family to Tremonton, Utah, where he built,
owned, and operated Tremonton Motor Company. He also
owned two dry farms in Idaho where he loved working
with his sons.
He loved a business deal. He worked hard to put
together a respectable motel
chain, with units located from Twin Falls, Idaho to
Page, Arizona; Elkhart, Indiana, to
Savannah, Georgia.
Roscoe continued his love of flying. He enjoyed
nothing more than taking his Vtail Beach Bonanza up
over Cache Valley and Bear Lake. Farming and flying
were his passions.
Roscoe was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and served in various positions,
including Stake Missionary, High Priest Group Leader,
and
Stake Sunday School President.
He is survived by five children: Scott (Carolyn)
Weston, Rockland, Idaho, Susan (Steven) Saunders,
Hyrum, Utah, Herb Weston, Logan, Utah, Janet (Ron)
Nelson, Rockland, Idaho, Anita (Steven) Jacobsen,
River Heights, Utah; two brothers, Todd (Joyce)
Weston, River Heights, Utah, Jim (Gaye) Weston, St.
George, Utah; two sisters, Eliza Darley, Logan, Utah,
and Venice Fetter, St. George. He also has 26
grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is
preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one
brother.
Dad was a good provider, a caring father and a hard
worker. He also demanded the best from his children
and his peers. He loved cars, planes, friends, and
cell phones.
Funeral services will be held at 11 :00 a.m. on
Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the LDS Cliffside First
Ward Church, 1380 East 25 North, Logan, Utah. A
viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. on Friday,
November 21,2003, at Allen -Hall Mortuary, 34 East
Center, Logan, Utah, and from 9:30 to 10:30a.m. on
Saturday at the church prior to services. Burial will
be in the Logan Cemetery.
