Theda M. Darley
Mrs. Darley died on May 8th at the home of her son in
Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, of complications resulting
from multiple strokes.
Mrs. Darley was born to Jennie Allene and Claude Duval
McBride in Clarksville, Cache County, Utah on December
7, 1920. She moved with her family to Logan at age two
and lived their until her marriage and briefly
thereafter.
She received her Baccalaureate Degree in
Education from Utah State University and taught
elementary school in Cache Valley before marrying
William Maughan Darley. The couple was sealed for time
and all eternity in the Logan Temple of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the eve of World
War II.
In 1957, Mrs. Darley moved from Utah to Menlo Park,
California, with her husband who had been accepted for
doctoral work in educational studies at Stanford
University. Their only child, William McBride Darley
was two at the time. Subsequently, she raised her
family and served as an elementary school teacher at
Hoover Elementary School and later at Kennedy Jr. High
School, specializing in English and Art. After a long
and respected tenure, she retired from teaching in the
early eighties to garden, travel and care for her
large menagerie of beloved cats and Pomeranian pups.
Mrs. Darley was a lifelong member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She survived her
beloved husband who died March 15, 2002. Her son,
William; daughter-in-law, Sabrina and five
grandchildren; Lynn-James, Erin Olivia, Wm. Geordon,
Brynna Corinne, Megan Alexandria, and her brother
Conrad McBride, of Boulder Colorado, survive her.
The family wishes at this time also to extend sincere
and heartfelt thanks to all who have lived and loved
with us throughout our lives and especially succored
and supported us in our time of mourning.
Funeral services will be held at the Allen Hall
Mortuary, 34 E. Center in Logan. Viewing and
visitation will begin at 10 AM with services following
at 11 AM. Interment will take place thereafter in the
Darley family plot at the Wellsville Cemetery.
