LOGAN, UTAH: Walter T. Sims, 77, of Logan, died Monday, May 31, 2004 at the Logan Regional Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

He was born January 11, 1927 in Garden City, Utah a son of Thomas E. and Buelah T. Sims. He was raised in Garden City and attended school in Laketown.

He married Betty Lou Creger on January 9, 1970 in the Logan LDS Temple. Walter worked at Thiokol LMC in Logan for many years and retried in 1994. His family was important to him and he loved spending time with them all. He loved to sing and was quick with a song for anyone and any occasion.

He is survived by his wife of Logan; four sons and three daughters, Arthur and Fran Goldsmith, Lake Stevens, WA; Rob and Colleen Sharp, Logan; Paul Pendergast, Smithfield; Cory and Dawn Sims, Logan; Cindy and Jeff Barr, Tremonton; Angel and Ken Romero, Austin, Texas; Robyn and Bill Hedgecock, North Logan; 18 grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren; three sisters, Stella and Al Long, Ogden; Lavern and Al Calhoon, St. George; Nelda and Orville Evans, Garden City. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Edward “Doc” Goldsmith-Sims; three brothers, Roger Sims, Berdean Sims, Calvin Sims, a sister, Grace Owen, a grandson, Christopher Terry Lynn Gardner.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 10:00 am in the Park Avenue Ward chapel, 275 Meadow Circle with Bishop Happy Ditton conducting. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Friday evening from 6-8 pm and at the church on Saturday from 9-9:45 am. Interment will be in the Garden City Cemetery following services. “We love you and we will miss you.”
